Customer Story: Clifton Coffee | Bring Teams Together

When CliftonCoffeeRoasters was a fledgling company, they relied on printing, scanning, and frantic trips to the office in order to complete work documents. But since adopting Teamworksolutions from Microsoft, team members digitally contribute and work together on shared projects in real time, from the device of their choice.

Before switching to Teamwork solutions from Microsoft, employees at Clifton Coffee Roasters (CCR) would physically print out all documents, fill them out by hand, and then bring them into the office, where they would get scanned and entered into a computer. Sounds tedious, right?

Powered by Microsoft, CCR team members communicate better than ever. Now, their team members stay connected from almost anywhere in the world they are individually located. With flexible communication tools like Forms, employees can contribute and work together on shared documents from personal devices. No printing or scanning required.

Business social networks

Today, business social networks are becoming increasingly popular on the internet. Business professionals are beginning to realize that people networking is an effective tool that can be used to raise awareness for a brand and target a larger segment of potential buyers and customers and also send out news about a service, product, or company more quickly.

Given the number of social networks existing on the internet, it’s quite challenging to pick the one that will be the best fit for your business.

Social bookmarking web sites like digg.com, reddit.com, del.icio.us, magnolia media network, Myspace.com, Netscape.com, etc. are essential networks and they might be able to aid your business by increasing targeted traffic to your web site and yielding some good link juice and Google PR (PageRank) as these are authority web sites.

But every one of those web sites has its specific audience. For example, it would be not so wise to post SEO (search engine optimization) news to digg.com, as this social network had a few difficulties with SEO web sites in the past (problems that seem to be resolved right now), but who knows? Digg.com is a good site for gaming and entertainment news. It seems as if the age segment of the digg users is between fourteen and twenty-two-year-old.

Social networks for business bloggers

If you are in search of a network of bloggers, MyBlogLog looks to be a good starting place for you. It is part of Yahoo and, aside from a dispute about an unjustly banned blogger, they have encouraging user reviews. It looks like they try to do a great deal to prevent spammers and have very stringent terms of use and privacy policy.

Social networks for business professionals

Serious business professionals appear to select an alternate social network site named LinkedIn. If you look through the various blogs of the most powerful bloggers you will notice on their sites a logo-link saying “view my profile at LinkedIn” which will lead you to the web site. Linkedin.com is based on a quite simple philosophy. As they describe it: “relationships matter”. A linkedin.com account, if used well will really assist professionals in their daily endeavors just by easing the way they search for potential business partners and clients and will also be helping them look for jobs or business opportunities. Linkedin.com is not a bloggers’ exclusively network. Any professional is free to join the network, with or without a web site of their own.

How social networking will benefit your Business

There are many other social networks on the WWW, but many are not as committed as the ones discussed above. Companies and Businesses need to send out their messages to reliable networks and not randomly. To use the correct network, you need to designate your marketplace and the networks related to with that niche. Then you need to deliver your message precisely to capture the attention of your possible consumers.

You also need to create trustworthiness – that is: you must show yourself as an information source in order that people will refer to your web site for further information and spread the word about the great quality of the information found inside your web pages.

Try to remember to take care to reinforce your brand. The Internet is highly competitive and people tend to forget quickly about you if nothing brings the website back to their attention. But do it with care and do not spam or you might get banned.

Social networking and customer relationships

It must be obvious that when you talk about people networks, you should display that there is a person – real person behind your business. An idea is to make your message very personal and to encourage your potential customers to e-mail you for additional questions and support. They will be glad to know that they can call on an expert if they need it.

If you have a large company, it’s a good idea to hire a couple of bloggers to take care of the networking job. If you don’t have a thought about social networking sites by now, it’s time to wake up and start riding the Web 2.0! Welcome to the future!
